Infrastructure Systems Engineer
Location: Pittsfield, MA
Senior Systems Engineer required to join organization's Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) team. The position provides an opportunity to develop the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s fundamental defense services. Organization's employees work closely with esteemed clients to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions. The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to create and manage various organization's and client technologies.
The LCS program is a key element of the Navy's plan to address asymmetric threats. Intended to operate in coastal areas of the globe, the ship is fast, highly maneuverable and geared to supporting mine detection/elimination, anti-submarine warfare and surface warfare, particularly against small surface craft.
Key Responsibilities:
Systems Engineers analyze, design, develop and test organization's systems to ensure the integration of software, hardware, reliability, maintainability, safety and other requirements in the total engineering effort. This particular position requires a candidate with a willingness to take on a broad range of tasks, Specific responsibilities include:
Implementation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and integration of the LCS Total Ship’s Computing Environment (TSCE) which includes servers, network devices, and cable plant
Device hardware selection/integration
Troubleshooting of networks and video distribution systems
Working with and updating cable plant and hardware drawings
Performing functional, cost-benefit, and risk analysis to support design changes
Supporting and engaging in programs and projects utilizing and adhering to General Dynamics Mission Systems policies and procedures
Mentoring junior members of the team
Suggesting improvements in design and implementation to enhance system performance
Candidates must demonstrate passion for innovation, a sophisticated understanding of various engineering systems and the ability to further advance organization's technology.
Ability to travel approximately 20% of time is a requirement.
The Senior Systems Engineer position requires a bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or other related scientific or technical discipline, or the equivalent and at least two to five years of related work experience. Applicants with a master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or other related scientific or technical discipline and a minimum of zero to two years of related work experience are also eligible.
Department of Defense Secret Security Slearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
U.S. Citizenship is required.

Experience with cable plant drawings and hardware layout drawings
Experience with schematics and system design documentation

Qualifications (Preferred):
Combat System Infrastructure Design
LAN/WAN architecture
Network based security solutions, such as firewalls, IDS, and/or IPS solutions
Experience with DOORS, Team Center, Synergy, IBM Rational Tools
